Paint or replace?
New kitchen cabinets in the Phoenix area typically run $15,000–$45,000 installed and take 4–8 weeks. If your cabinet boxes are structurally sound, refinishing gives you a new look without demolition. Read the full comparison: Cabinet painting vs. replacement.
Our 6-step process
- Remove and label. We number every door and drawer front.
- Degrease and sand. Cooking grease is the #1 cause of adhesion failure, so every surface is cleaned and degreased, and the doors are sanded on site. On oak, we grain-fill and sand the open grain before priming so the painted finish is smooth.
- Prime. Bonding primer goes on the boxes, doors, and drawer fronts. Where wood tannins or old stain could bleed through, we block them first with a thin shellac primer. We never skip primer.
- Spray finish. We spray two topcoats of durable waterborne cabinet enamel with professional spray equipment, so there are no brush marks and no roller texture. Doors hang and cure before they're reinstalled.
- Reinstall and adjust. We rehang and align doors and drawers, and install new hardware if you want it.
- Final inspection. We walk through every cabinet with you and touch up anything that doesn't meet our standard before we leave.

Cabinet painting FAQ
How long will my kitchen be out of commission? Typically 3–5 days for a standard kitchen.
Brushed or sprayed? Sprayed. We use professional spray equipment over a bonding primer.
Why do painted cabinets peel, and how do you prevent it? Usually it's grease and skipped primer. We degrease, sand, and prime every surface before the topcoats go on.
Can you paint oak cabinets white without the grain showing? Yes. We grain-fill and sand oak before priming and painting, and we use a thin shellac primer to block tannin or stain bleed-through so it doesn't yellow your new color.
What sheens can I choose? Low sheen, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss. We bring color samples to the free estimate.
What's the warranty? Cabinet work carries a 2-year warranty.
